AT&T FamilyMap Review & $100 Visa Gift Card Contest

This is a compensated review from BlogHer and AT&T FamilyMap

Our family are already AT&T subscribers of a Family wireless plan. I was thrilled when AT&T came out with a new feature: FamilyMap. What a wonderful tool to locate family members, check to see if they made it home on time and many other uses. I was especially pleased to see the Scheduling feature which allows you to set certain locations where a family member should be certain times of day which you can then receive a text or email notification for. As a busy mom of a toddler and a teenager, I’m not always home in the afternoon when Teenager arrives so it gives me great peace of mind to know that I’ll automatically be informed when he arrives home, to another destination or if he just hasn’t made it home by a certain time. The day we started using this tool also happened to be the first day of school for Teenager. When I set this up it automatically sends a text message to the family members you assign the program to locate, thus Teenager was informed of this new feature. He phoned on his way home from school just as we were plotting his journey online. I said: “Oh, by the way we are following you online with the new FamilyMap feature from A&T!” His reply was a less than enthusiastic [insert annoyed teen voice here] “Yeah, I know.” I told him at least we weren’t installing a chip in his head or anything.

peace of mind is hard to come by sometimes. I love to know where my family is as well and it's just nice to be with someone you trust and love...that always makes me feel more at ease.

What gives me peace of mind is knowing that I've taught my kids as best I can. So that makes me feel they will be ok when they are away from home.

AT&T could have called their new service "Track-A-Teen"...that's what I'd be using it for. My daughter is 13, knowing that she got home from school when I'm not home would give me piece of mind. I've got a vivid imagination and years of reading thrillers and horror books have probably added to my mom-paranoia.
I'm always uneasy if I don't know where my children are or what they're doing. Getting a cell phone for my 13 year old daughter was not only a birthday gift for her, but a present for my piece of mind, as well. Now she's able to call me when she's out and she has plans and let me know who she's with and when she'll be home. It really does ease my mind to know she's always just a phone or text away from me.

Knowing where my family is and who they are with keeps me sane. When I know where they are and who they are with then I don't have to worry about them being in an unsafe situation or with people they should not be with.

As a dad of quadruplet boys, I am sure that this function will eventually be amazingly helpful. If this was accurate to the inch, I would consider purchasing the plan, implanting the phones in their diapers, and tracking them around my house with my phone. They are hard to keep up with now, I cannot imagine some day when they are off at school!

The fact that I have three dogs that bark their heads off every time a leaf blows outside gives me peace of mind. I know they will keep my family safe from all the nuts out there.

What gives me peace of mind is knowledge. That is, knowledge of what he's doing or where he is. With FamilyMap, I can relatively pinpoint his location, but I won't know what he's doing; I can give it a guess though and that's good enough. Hmm, looks like he's at the mall. Okay.

I know I'm not in control, but knowledge at least gives you a head start or a shortcut to the heart of the problem or situation you are dealing with. In the case of trying to locate a family member, at least some knowledge means you don't have to start at the bottom to claw through every possible scenario. It saves valuable time and possibly some stress.

hehehe. I'm an evil mom too and I make no bones about it. Whatever it takes short of the old chip in the head to let me know that he is safe is great!
I worry about him NOT calling so the tracking capability is awesome! Oh dear. I cannot imagine when he is a teenager. Oh dear.

What gives me peace of mind is knowledge. Knowledge gives me peace of mind because I know exactly where everyone is, therefore my mind is not preoccupied with negative thoughts about where my loved ones are. Knowing where everyone is just allows me to calm down and not worry about anything.
