This is a compensated review from BlogHer and Orowheat
I was happy to have the opportunity to test Oroweat’s new line of Dutch Country breads and write a review. The three breads our family tried are 100% Whole Wheat, Premium Potato and Extra Fiber.
All three have a smooth texture and I must say I am very pleased that Oroweat does not put High Fructose Corn Syrup in their breads! Now, as readers of SAHM: Surviving Assorted Home Mayhem know, I am trying to get the last of the “baby weight” off and follow Weight Watchers. I am very happy that Oroweat’s Extra Fiber bread is hearty and filling at only one point per slice! Here are a couple of the sandwich creations I came up with.
Health Nut:
2 slices Oroweat Dutch Country Extra Fiber
Spread with 1 T reduced fat or whipped cream cheese
Top with sprouts, 1 oz. sliced avocado, 1 T sliced olives and 1T roasted pumpkin seeds
[5.5 WW points]
Classic Smoked Turkey & Swiss:
2 slices Oroweat Dutch Country Extra Fiber
Spicy mustard, thin sliced smoked turkey, reduced fat Swiss cheese slice, lettuce or sprouts, tomato, onion and banana peppers.
[4 WW points]
Of course any of Oroweat’s breads could be used for these sandwiches, in fact the Teenager liked the 100% Whole Wheat and little guy favored the Premium Potato bread with peanut butter and honey. I did get some “looks” from the Hubby and Teenager when I mentioned I was making sandwiches and they heard the dreaded words “sprouts” and “seeds” but they actually liked my creation and the bread really made the sandwiches!

I would make roast beef with provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard and jalapeno peppers on potato bread
I have to enter a sandwich that was served to me by a friend. On whole wheat, crisp warm bacon, very thinly sliced and layered tomatoes, leaf lettuce, blue cheese and a tiny thin smear of mayo. To die for.
Black beans, sour cream, jalapenos and sprouts on potato bread
Not neccessarily a masterpiece but, I just love plain old Turkey & Swiss w/ mayo!
Hmmm... I am a turkey, bacon and avocado girl. Some sprouts, tomatoes and a little mayo/mustard would top it off nicely.
I am a HUGE fan of Oroweat's sandwich thins, or whatever they're called. At 1 point per "bun" they make an AWESOME sandwich, burger, sloppy joe, english muffin substitute, etc. Love them. I'd love some nice bread for toast, though!
Love Oroweat!
Toasted meat, cheese, and tomato -no mayo
I like adding lots of veggies (tomato, onion, basil, lettuce) with grilled chicken and cheese!

Veggie sandwich on toasted bread with cheese please. After all that Halloween candy I need some veggies in my diet. :-)
I'd like to try making bread pudding with some.
We like the good old standby, grilled cheese but I also love to fix french toast!

Pizza Bread-place sliced bread on a coated cookie sheet, a spoon of pizza sauce, pepperoni, and mozzarella cheese

I use the potato bread to make the best grilled cheese sandwich, using Colby Jack cheese for its meltability and slowly toasting it in the oven! Crispy bread, no burned edges and perfectly melted cheese!
I lOVE peanut butter toast, and my favorite bread of all time is Orowheat's 3-seed oatnut. when the peanut better gets all melty on the toast it just blends with the oatnut flavor for a great combo -- and pretty nutritious, too.
I would create ham and cheese with tomato sandwich!

My masterpiece = pesto + provolone + roasted red peppers + artichoke hearts, grilled for a few minutes with a panini press! Yum!
Your sandwiches look great, but I'd use the Whole Wheat or extra fiber to do a toasted turkey w/ American cheese and brown mustard.
Egg salad with sunflower seeds. On toasted wheat. Yum.
Turkey, bacon and avocado!

I love a good sourdough grilled cheese with ham, with garlic butter and dijon mustard and tomato. YUM!

Mmmm, bread. I almost don't want to sully it with fillings.
But potato bread with thin slices of tart apple, proscuitto, and gouda sounds yummy to me.
I don't know if you'd call them masterpieces, but I'd make my awesome PB&Js, and my hubby would make his world-famous grilled cheese. We're pretty boring around here.

I like to use the oatnut bread for chicken salad sandwiches--with dried cherries, cashews, and dill. Yum!
I have always loved Orowheat breads -- my favorite sandwich is ham tomato, a sliver of sweet onion, and mustard!
I love Grill Cheese Sandwiches with a slice of ham on them.
Turkey + cranberry sauce + whole wheat bread :D

If I could have one it would be plain old delicious tomato sandwich (fresh from the garden if possible) on white bread, mayo, lettuce and a dash of salt. Although I love a good wheat bread this one is best on white...Orowheat Buttermilk is a favorite for this sandwich!!! YUMMY!
chesse and tomato - yummy!
my masterpiece - turkey, with bacon and cheese - toasted!! on wheat or sourdough bread!
Grilled PB&J on the wheat bread!
Just plain old ham and cheese! WIth the cheese slightly melted and gooey! Yum!
Tomato and sprouts is my favorite. And the tomatoes have to be fresh from the garden.

We love to make cheese soldiers with our bread. My Grandfather from England made these for me when I was a kid and now my son, who is 22 months old loves them too!
I'd use leftover Thanksgiving turkey to make turkey/cream cheese/strawberry jam! Thanks!

I would make a chunky peanut butter & blueberry jam sandwich with the whole wheat bread. Yum!

Oatnut bread is awesome when toasted or fresh with Skippy Super Chunk Peanut Butter and home made Raspberry Jam! Talk about comfort food!

This time of year I would definitely make a turkey with cranberry sauce (the jelly kind) with a touch of mustard and mayo on the bread. YUM!
